INTRODUCTION

Nicknamed the Abode of Gods or Dev Bhoomi, Himachal Pradesh is a natural wonder teeming with temples and scenic splendor. A mix of colonial architecture, modern day comfort paired with immense amount of natural beauty makes the capital city Shimla what it is. Connected to the nearest broad gauge railhead in Kalka with narrow gauge toy train, the journey boasts of having 103 tunnels and splendid views. Shimla is the starting point for many a travel circuits in the state. The most popular of them is the Shimla-Kullu-Manali circuit, Kullu offers a feet dipping experience in the local culture, shopping for local handicrafts or garments is one of the major attraction of the place, Manali in turn is a paradise for honeymooners with its quite ambiance, beautiful terrain and the nearness of Rohtang Pass which is abundant with snow deposits even in summer. This circuit is a favorite among travelers to avoid the scorching Sun of the plains.

Kinnaur-Spiti-Lahaul circuit is famous among adventure lovers, Kinnaur is high altitude district famous for its apple cultivation, apple blossoms during the month of April and apple harvesting during the month of October attract large amount of visitors, while Lahaul and Spiti fall under the spiti valley, a desert mountain valley possessing a distinct Buddhist culture, the terrain and culture is very similar to that of Ladakh and Tibet.

The circuit consisting of Dalhousie, Khajjiar and Dharamshala is quite popular among youngsters and families. Situated in North-Western part of the state it is connected by road with the nearest railhead in Pathankot. Dalhousie was another colonial favorite which led to its many colonial structured buildings, filled with an eerie old world charm; it’s a place where a few days could be spent in leisure. Khajjiar is a large meadow placed among coniferous forest, an idyllic setting for quiet and calm. Dharamshala is a Buddhist town with beautiful monasteries, Tibetan food and modern day comfort.
