INTRODUCTION

Karnataka is famous for its IT hub capital, the silicon valley of India; Bangalore. Gifted with favorable mild weather, easy availability of raw materials and a great infrastructure has led to the popularity of Bangalore as an IT hub, stuck in its shadow people tend to forget the archeological marvels, splendid scenery, abundant wildlife and natural splendor the state has to offer. Placed strategically between the Konkan Coast of Goa and the Malabar Coast of Kerala, Kanara coast of Karnataka boasts of serene beaches like Karwar, Gokarna, Udupi and Mangalore. The seashore town of Murudeshwar has a huge Shiva statue and adjoining large gopuram placed in an idyllic setting on the beach creating a harmonious picture. The other hidden treasure of the state is St. Mary’s Island located 6 km off the shore from Udupi. Natural basalt rock formations and swaying coconut trees add to the charms of the quiet island.

The city of Mysore has a lot to offer, graced with beautiful gardens like Vrindavan Gardens which in turn is famous for its light and sound shows, the Mysore palace also provides with a great architectural wonder and a quintessential night view to the city. The hill station of Coorg is known as the coffee bowl of India, filled with coffee bean aroma and stunning views, it’s an ideal place to spend a few days. Wildlife enthusiasts can indulge themselves in the fauna from the Kudremukh mountain range or linger around in the woods of Bandipur National Park to catch a glimpse of the Bengal tiger. Karnataka is also famous for its beautiful waterfalls namely Jog falls, Sivanasamudra falls, Abbey falls and Irupu falls. Karnataka is also rich in its history and cultural traditions, the great Vijayanagara Empire left behind valuable relics from its time combined with beautiful architectural structures, most of which is placed in areas like Hosapete, Hampi and Bijapur. Karnataka is a state deserving to be on the must visit list of every traveler.
